This wine was received as a tasting sample.2013 Don Melchor Cabernet Sauvignon, Puente Alto — dense ruby in the glass with earthy, dark fruit aromas seasoned with hints of dried herbs, black pepper and vanilla. Nik Weis is the current winemaker and caretaker of Weingut St. Urbans-Hof, the winery founded by his grandfather. He takes a hands-off approach to winemaking, intervening as little as possible in the wine cellar, and focusing on quality wine grape production. The SUH Wiltinger Alte Reben Riesling was fermented in stainless steel using only indigenous yeast. The Riesling comes from a vineyard that was planted in the early 1900s. Alte Reben, translates to old vines and some of those very old vines remain.
“This wine dances across my tongue,” exclaimed our friend and dinner guest as he savored the first few sips of the Cesari Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG. He couldn’t define for me what that meant exactly, but he liked the wine very much. He was not alone in that evaluation of this delightful Amarone produced in Valpolicella’s Classico zone north of Veneto.
This third release of Dave Phinney’s Location Wines Argentinian Red Wine is a blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.
This wine is the fourth release of Dave Phinney’s F wine produced and bottled by Locations Wine. It is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and assorted Bordeaux varieties sourced from growers in the Rhône, Roussillon and Bordeaux regions of France.
