This third release of Dave Phinney’s Location Wines Argentinian Red Wine is a blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. The flavors of Malbec come through prominently in this blend with Cabernet flavors in the background. It is a delightfully drinkable blend that happily is not too ripe or over oaked. I love Malbec when if it’s not over done, and that is the case with this wine.
We created an insanely delicious pairing for this wine – lamb sausage pizza with tomatoes and chimichurri. I seasoned ground lamb with cumin, fennel and coriander for the sausage part and made chimichurri using my favorite blend of cilantro, curly leaf parsley, garlic, red pepper flakes, red wine vinegar and olive oil. Home made pizza dough and fresh mozzarella made this the perfect pizza. The Locations AR5 – Argentinian Red Wine would be perfect with grilled ti-tip or skirt steak and chimichurri – or if you’re not a fan of chimichurri just leave it off.
