Appropriately enough, The Wine Bloggers’ Conference 2013 kicked-off with a wine event (oh, yeah there was great food too). The event was so spectacular, we all want to write about it. Those WBC people are very clever.
Somehow, when considering white wines for summer, I often overlook Chenin Blanc. I’m more likely to think about Viognier, Riesling, Torrontes, Pinot Blanc, even unoaked Chardonnay. I guess Chenin Blanc is the Rodney Dangerfield of white wines, it just gets no respect.
We recently received this brightly colored two bottle wine carrier to review. The artwork is by Billy The Artist, internationally recognized pop artist known for his eclectic style. The bright puzzle-like images are printed on both sides of the carrier.
The Wine Bloggers’ Conference 2013 (WBC13) focused on the wines of the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada. In addition though, a number of wine groups from around the world brought their wines for us to taste. They were presented at group tastings, individual sessions, luncheons and receptions. Join us in tasting these wines.
The final winery visit included in our Pre-Conference Excursion to the Wine Bloggers’ Conference 2013 (WBC13) was CedarCreek Estate Winery. The series of winery visits, lodging and meals were organized and sponsored by Tourism Kelowna, the wineries and hotels.
The second winery visit we made as part of a Pre-Conference Excursion to the Wine Bloggers’ Conference 2013 in Penticton, British Columbia (WBC13) took us to Tantalus Vineyards, yet another beautiful and unique winery located along the Lakeshore Wine Route in southeast Kelowna.
Originally built by Countess Bubna Litite of Austria, about 3 miles down the lakeshore from its current location, it was called the Eldorado Arms Inn. Though it began as lodging for local ranch hands, it eventually became an elegant hotel with extensive gardens and was well known for quality dining and lodging. It attracted visitors from all over Europe and North America.
We recently visited Summerhill Pyramid Winery as part of a Pre-Conference Excursion to the Wine Bloggers’ Conference 2013 in Penticton, British Columbia. The excursion was planned for us by Tourism Kelowna and included a tour and dinner at the winery.
The Wine Bloggers’ Conference 2013 was held in Penticton, British Columbia, June 6 – 8. We arrived a couple of days before the Conference started so we could spend some time in Penticton and participate in one of the Pre-Conference Excursions. We chose the Kelowna Pre-Conference Excursion so we could learn a bit about the wineries along the north part of Okanagan Lake. The Excursion was organized and subsidized by Tourism Kelowna.
Last Thursday night’s tasting at Fine Wines of Stockton featured wines from South Africa. George and Gail, owners of the wine shop, visited South Africa several years ago and shared their experiences and a bit about the history of wine making in the region with us.
