We opened this wine a few days ago when it was rainy, as it has been for what seems like an interminable number of days. I was craving sunshine and if I couldn’t get it from the weather forecast then I would have it in my wine glass. Locations F5 Rosé was the perfect choice.
Locations F5 Rosé — French Rosé Wine — medium salmon color in the glass with generous berry and stone fruit aromas. Strawberry and blackberry flavors combine with delicate white peach flavors and bright, citrusy backnotes. This wine is clean, fresh and flavorful with a moderately long finish. 14.5% abv. Under $20.
The complex fruit character of Granache is on full display in this lovely 100% Grenache rosé. Consider enjoying it with charcuterie, appetizers or a salad. It’s a beautiful match for creamy pasta and roast chicken as well. It will be cooling and refreshing on a warm summer afternoon and it certainly brought a ray of sunshine to my rainy evening.
Winemaker Dave Phinney clearly states his vision for the Locations wines he crafts: to make the best possible wine from a country or location. That’s not an unusual goal for a winemaker — every winemaker wants to make the best wine possible. But, how Phinney goes about achieving that goal is ususual. He throws appellation requirements to the wind, finds the most compelling vineyards and varieties in a given location and produces the wine that best represents that location. His rules, his interpretation, his wine. Dave Phinney succeeds beautifully with this French Rosé, as he has with his Locations Argentina, Spain and France red wines — all of which we have had the opportunity to taste. All are consistently high-quality wines at a great price.
Where else in the world is Dave Phinney making wine? Stay tuned, we have two more countries to explore.
Cheers!
Love it! Sunshine in a glass! Cheers, Nancy – hope the (real) sun comes back soon.
Hi Lauren. Yes, finally, we have a sunny day. Maybe I should have opened this wine sooner, it brought the sunshine with it! Cheers!
