Monday night dinner and wine with Dave
Most recent Monday night dinner story and wine.
This Monday night Nancy made a great Beef Stroganoff from her own recipe to go with our wine of the evening. She used a chuck roast (grass fed) that was finely diced with a small amount of Italian sausage. She used crème fraiche instead of sour cream. Nancy served it with rice and peas mixed with sauteed mushrooms and shallots. […]
We’ve started our regular Monday night food and wine routine for 2011 and we are off to a good start. I prepared hachis Parmentier from our new French cookbook. Hachis Parmentier is described by Dorie Greenspan in her cookbook “Around My French Table” as a really good French version of shepherd’s pie. You can look up the details in her […]

Nancy sauteed chopped onions, garlic, apples and shredded cabbage, then baked the pork chops on top of the […]

Nancy used two recipes from it, chicken, apples and cream a la normande and herb speckled spaetzle. Both were excellent and went well together. Dave brought over […]

If you haven’t tried mashed cauliflower, you should. Just steam it, add butter and mash with a potato masher. The flavor is great and the texture is interesting. Looks like […]
So, does the title of this post give you a hint as to what kind of wine we had with dinner? It was Dave’s turn to bring the wine this week. He chose a recent K&L Wine Merchants purchase…a 1997 Chateau Destieux Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. Can I just say yum? This kind of editorial comment would be discouraged at our […]
