Locations F4 – French Red Wine — deep ruby in the glass with generous red and dark fruit aromas along with hints of black tea. Mixed red and dark fruit flavors combine for a rich fruit flavor that is just a bit tart. A delicious savory and earthy character adds complexity and interest in the background as does its juicy acidity. Tannins are well integrated into this medium-bodied wine. It finishes a bit hot. 15% abv. SRP $18.99
This wine is the fourth release of Dave Phinney’s F wine produced and bottled by Locations Wine. It is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and assorted Bordeaux varieties sourced from growers in the Roussillon, Rhône and Bordeaux regions of France. Appellation rules are thrown out the window and the art of blending is on show in order to produce a wine that is the best representation of France as a location.
We enjoyed this wine with good friends and assorted pizzas. The wine paired just as well with the pesto and artichoke heart pizza as it did with the combination meat pizza. I would imagine red meat cooked on an outdoor grill would make a good match as well.
Cheers!
