Ripe blueberry and blackberry flavors are supported by an interesting earthiness. This medium-weight wine has substantial drying tannins that together with the dark fruit flavors make it a deliciously brooding wine that finishes with a bit of heat. 15% abv. $19.99
This bold, flavorful wine will be a crowd pleaser. Its flavors are up front and supported by ample tannins that are not too rough. It will be delicious with lamb stew, grilled steak or sausage pizza and will warm you on a chilly evening.
Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira and Touriga Franca are common blending partners in Portugal. Touriga Nacional lends structure, Trincadeira color and Touriga Franca softness and intense aromatics. Dave Phinney breaks the appellation rules, though, by combining grapes from both the Douro and Alentejo regions of Portugal. But, as you know, that’s how Dave flies with his Locations wines — he uses local varieties without regard for appellation boundaries to produce a wine that fulfills his wine vision of the country. The country label on the bottle tells you where the grapes originate, but its contents will always be crafted in an unconventional manner. And they will always be delicious.
Dave Phinney’s Locations wines are widely distributed. His “country” wines also include Spain, France (both red and rosé), Italy, Argentina and Corsica. All, except Corsica which bears a dramatic red label, have the distinctive black and white country label making them easy to spot. Happy hunting.
Cheers!
