The 2004 Sterling Vineyards SVR Reserve Napa Valley is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. This blend makes for a nice big and complex wine. The color was a very dark ruby, still looking like a young wine. The nose was smokey and earthy with some rubber tire too. There were complex flavors of dark fruit, smoke and tobacco. Well balanced with good tannins and acid. This is also a good wine to have with food. We served it along with some charcoal grilled pork chops and they paired nicely.
We enjoy wine, food and travel. Pull That Cork is a chronicle of our wine adventures, the food and wine pairings we create and our travels which are increasingly organized around wine.
