2010 Vigilance Winery and Vineyards Cimmarron Lake County Red Wine

Vigilance CimmarronWe had an interesting wine the other night. A blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon from Lake County, California. It was the 2010 Vigilance Winery and Vineyards Cimmarron Lake County Red Wine (14.2% abv). Vigilance Vineyards practices sustainable farming methods using cover crops and sheep to control weeds in the vineyards. This isn’t your big fruit forward California wine, while it has plenty of flavor it is more tobacco and spice with a little dark fruit. The color was a nice dark ruby and there was an interesting nose I have trouble describing. The tannins were smooth and there was a good balance with the acid and flavors. A very nice wine that I recommend you try. We seemed to keep going back for more and pretty soon the bottle was empty.
