The 2005 Chateau Malescasse is very good for an inexpensive Bordeaux. It comes from the right bank in the Haut Medoc region of Bordeaux. It has a nice medium garnet color with a lot of dark fruit and leather and tobacco on the nose. In the mouth you get a burst of dark fruit and then some leather, tobacco and a little vegetal flavors. Moderate tannins and a moderate length finish of coffee and tobacco. I’m definitely going to see if I can find some more of this wine.
