Cabernet Sauvignon with Baked Chicken

Nancy baked some chicken coated in spiced bread crumbs for our Monday night dinner. She also made mashed cauliflower (much better than it sounds) and green beans with slivered almonds. If you haven’t tried mashed cauliflower, you should. Just steam it, add butter and mash with a potato masher. The flavor is great and the texture is interesting. Looks like potatoes, but tastes like cauliflower. Dave wasn’t feeling the best, so we had a pretty quiet dinner. For the Wine we had a Mason 2005 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. We described this wine in our 2010 Napa Valley Bus Trip (Part 1) post. After tasting it again we went back to our notes and found they were still pretty much the same. It is always nice to be consistent. Sometimes when our tasting notes are inconsistent from one tasting to another I wonder if we’re influenced by the setting.

Next week we will be celebrating Dave’s birthday with our friends George and Gail from Fine Wines of Stockton . We will prepare something delicious and will drink some good wine in Dave’s honor.
