2009 St. Rose Pinot Noir Clone 777 (13.7 alc.) – From the Nunes Vineyard in the Russian River Valley this Pinot Noir was a very light garnet color and had an earthy nose with some red fruit. A light bodied wine with plenty of flavor of red fruit (cherries) and earth. The tannins were light and well integrated, there was good acidity and just a little heat on the finish. The St. Rose is unfiltered and unfined and spent fourteen months in 50% new, 1 & 2 year old François Frères French oak barrels. The St. Rose Winery has an interesting story, they were founded to reflect the terroir of the Nunes Vineyard and they seem to be doing that very well.
We enjoy wine, food and travel. Pull That Cork is a chronicle of our wine adventures, the food and wine pairings we create and our travels which are increasingly organized around wine.
