The 2008 Sterling Vineyards Napa Valley Syrah (14.9 alc.) is from the Napa Valley with the majority of the grapes coming from the cool Carneros appellation and the rest from Diamond Mountain Ranch at an elevation of 1700 feet. With a dark ruby color it has a smokey bacon nose with some dark fruit. There are flavors of smokey dark fruit and anise with moderate tannins, good acidity and a medium length finish. The wine was aged in older French, American and European oak barrels so there is not a huge oak influence. Not a huge wine like some hot weather Syrah, very nice drinking.
We enjoy wine, food and travel. Pull That Cork is a chronicle of our wine adventures, the food and wine pairings we create and our travels which are increasingly organized around wine.
