Recently we tasted several Chilean Carmenere wines. One of the vintners we liked was Korta by the Sagrada Family so we decided to try the 2008 Korta Gran Reserva from the Lontue Valley. This wine is a blend of 40% Petit Verdot, 20% Syrah, 20% Cabernet Franc and 20% Carmenere (14.5 alc.). The color was a striking dark crimson and the nose was deep and dark floral earthiness. The flavor was tart dark red fruit with moderate smooth tannins and good acidity. A very nice wine but the finish was on the short side.
We enjoy wine, food and travel. Pull That Cork is a chronicle of our wine adventures, the food and wine pairings we create and our travels which are increasingly organized around wine.
