From St. Estephe on the left bank in Bordeaux the 2002 Les Pagodes de Cos has matured well. With a dark garnet color and restrained nose it has a lot of flavor. There was cedar, pencil lead, celery seed and dark fruit. The tannins had become smooth and there was good acidity and a medium length finish.
Les Pagodes de Cos is the second wine of Cos de Estournel, a Grand Cru Classé from the original 1855 classification. This wine is made from the vines that are not yet mature enough to be used in the Cos de Estournel.
