This Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir from the Santa Maria Valley has a light ruby, semi transparent color and a smokey, earthy nose. It has flavors to match the nose, earthy and smokey with tart fruit. There are moderate tannins and good acidity. The body is light with a moderately long finish of both flavor and tannins (alc 13.5%)
The wine was more Burgundian in style than most American Pinot Noir. As time went on more spiciness and fruit appeared. This was a really nice wine, very enjoyable to drink. Next time we have it I think I will decant it for about an hour to open it up a little more.

Thanks! Yes I am looking into some type of email subscription. You are the second person to suggest it so I guess I better get busy. Nancy likes foreign films so we will check out your reviews. We also plan on doing restaurants once in awhile and other occasions. We were just in San Francisco this weekend at a wine dinner put on by Diageo and will by post that in a couple of days.
I enjoyed your posts. Have you thought about an automatic newsletter so wine drinkers can subscribe to it and get automatic emails when you publish a new post? I do this on the wine blog I host. I usually review 1-3 wines per week along with a story and also review foreign and independent films and occasionally a documentary. The best thing about wine is it’s all about personal taste. Keep up the blog.
