2006 Chalone Vineyards Condor review.
We enjoy wine, food and travel. Pull That Cork is a chronicle of our wine adventures, the food and wine pairings we create and our travels which are increasingly organized around wine.
What we had sitting in the backyard. In the winter of course we move this indoors.

We had the 2008 Clos De La Chapelle Muscadet Sevre & Maine Sur Lie with some Dover Sole. The color is a very pale yellow, almost clear. We tasted the wine before eating and it had some floral notes and also a smell that reminded me of the ocean. In the mouth you first notice the high acid content and […]
I was drinking a Taylor Fladgate 10 year old Tawny Porto and saw in the local wine shop an Australian “Tawny” and decided to see how they compared. I did expect a difference since the Taylor Fladgate is a true port while the Seppeltsfield is a Grenache, Syrah blend aged like a tawny port. The Taylor Fladgate was a dark […]
2009 Provenance Sauvignon Blanc – This wine has a very light yellow color. Nose is very obvious, citrus and melon. Flavors of citrus, melon and floral back-notes. A good amount of acid gives this wine a clean finish of moderate length. None of the grassy flavors I find objectionable in some Sauvignon Blanc. There is a slight bitterness on the […]
We had a nice Labor Day weekend. Nancy’s mom came to visit so we invited a couple of friends over for a BBQ. I grilled some flank steak and Nancy made some chimichurri sauce for it. She also made corn pudding and a salad with our home grown tomatoes. Everybody enjoyed the meal very much. To accompany our meal we […]
This weekend we had a 2008 Lucky Start Chardonnay. The wine was 97% Chardonnay and 3% Sauvignon Blanc with 60% of the grapes from the North Coast and the balance from Clarksburg. Only part of the wine went through a malolactic fermentation and I don’t believe it was on oak at all. If it was on oak, it was not […]
Another weekend is drawing to a close. It was very relaxing. I did some yard work and other general late spring cleanup. It seems like I never feel like doing any spring cleaning until late in the summer 🙂 I did have one of my favorite, maybe absolute favorite white wines this weekend. We usually have white wines when it’s […]
