The Sisters Wine

We celebrate any number of wine days here at Pull That Cork. You know some of them: Rosé, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay. When we received tasting samples of two wines from a New Zealand brand called The Sisters I thought it would be fun to share these wines with you on National Sisters Day (#NationalSistersDay).

The Sisters brand is clearly aimed a women. Women who are busy everyday living life — a life that includes work, family, friendship, whatever. In their words: The Sisters wine was created to inspire women to acknowledge and celebrate the extraordinary things they do every day.

The Sisters brand became a sponsor of the Marlborough Women’s Triathlon in 2017 and are partners with Dress for Success® in New Zealand.

Both wines we received are made with grapes sourced from New Zealand’s Marlborough region.

The Sisters Sauvignon Blanc
The Sisters Sauvignon Blanc
2017 The Sisters Sauvignon Blanc, Marlboroughpale yellow in the glass with generous goose berry and cut grass aromas. The flavors follow with a combination of tart gooseberry, jalapeño pepper (minus the heat) and cut grass. Juicy acidity keeps this wine light and bright. The flavors last a good long time. 12.5% abv.

The tart gooseberry and cut grass flavors of this Sauvignon Blanc are consistent New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc for me. If you love the New Zealand style of Sauvignon Blanc this wine will please you.

The Sisters Pinot Noir
The Sisters Pinot Noir
2017 The Sisters Pinot Noir, Marlborough translucent ruby in the glass with dusty earth, berry bramble and blackberry aromas. Flavors of red cherries, raspberries and blackberries are joined a dusty earthiness in the background. Tannins are smooth and the finish is short to medium in length. 12.5% abv.

This wine has nice Pinot Noir character and is easy to sip. Give it a bit of a chill for summertime.

Both of these wines have relatively low alcohol, which is particularly nice in summertime when heavy wines with high alcohol just aren’t what I want to drink. The Sisters range of wines also includes Pinot Rosé and Pinot Gris. With prices from $16.99 to $19.99 these are wines for fun gatherings.

Cheers!
