Grilled Chicken and Rosé, of Course, for #winePW

After missing several Wine Pairing Weekend get-togethers we are back with our monthly food and wine pairing group of bloggers. We missed everyone! Camilla, who blogs at Culinary Adventures with Camilla, challenged us to fire up the grill and devise a food and wine paring. No problem, we love to grill and do so quite often when the weather is […]

Sutro Co Wine Tasting

A Unique Vineyard Tour & Tasting Experience: Sutro Wine Co.

We recently made the acquaintance of Alice and Eliot Sutro, the couple behind Sutro Wine Co. We had the opportunity to taste their wines and tour the Warnecke Ranch which is the source of the grapes for their wines. We began in the vineyards below Chalk Hill, with Alice, and finished in Healdsburg, where Eliot joined us, for a wine […]

Paul Dolan Vineyards wines

Paul Dolan Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel & Cabernet Sauvignon

The following three wines from Paul Dolan Vineyards are made by Mendocino Wine Co. located in Ukiah, California. We received all three wines as tasting samples. These wines are of particular interest to me because they are made from organically grown grapes. Whenever I buy food, and I consider wine to be food, I look for organic options. So, naturally, […]

St Urbans Hof Wiltinger Alte Reben

St. Urbans-Hof Wiltinger Alte Reben Kabinett Feinherb Riesling

Nik Weis is the current winemaker and caretaker of Weingut St. Urbans-Hof, the winery founded by his grandfather. He takes a hands-off approach to winemaking, intervening as little as possible in the wine cellar, and focusing on quality wine grape production. The SUH Wiltinger Alte Reben Riesling was fermented in stainless steel using only indigenous yeast. The Riesling comes from a vineyard that was planted in the early 1900s. Alte Reben, translates to old vines and some of those very old vines remain.

Our #OTBN and #winePW Celebration: The Château Léoville Las Cases Stole the Show

This was our third official celebration of Open That Bottle Night (OTBN) in conjunction with Wine Pairing Weekend (#winePW), a group of food and wine bloggers. We were a bit late to the party, given that Open That Bottle Night has been celebrated since 1999. That’s when then-Wall Street Journal wine columnists Dorothy J. Gaiter and John Brecher first established […]

A Savory Pairing for Your Valentine

Yes, savory. If you’re looking to pair wine with something sweet (other than your Valentine) then you’ve landed on the wrong blog post. Another search will yield lots of articles giving you wine pairings with chocolates or desserts. In fact, you will probably find lots more pairings with something sweet than savory. That’s the very reason I’m suggesting a savory […]

Brandade de Morue and Lirac

Brandade de Morue and a Lovely Lirac #winePW

Cindy Rynning who blogs at Grape Experiences, threw down the challenge for this month’s Wine Pairing Weekend group of bloggers: Comfort food and wine. This should have been really easy, who doesn’t love comfort food? I certainly do. The problem for me was choosing just one dish. So many came to mind, I couldn’t focus on just one. I delayed, […]
